Intent

Typed Venstar thermostat helpers for reading climate state, setting comfort/auto ranges, toggling away mode, and managing local schedules — backed by the home connector.

What it does

  • List managed thermostats and summarize climate
  • Read /query/info, sensors, and runtimes for a saved thermostat name or IP
  • Set heat/cool/auto with validated Fahrenheit setpoints
  • Toggle away/home and enable/disable the local schedule

Prerequisites / setup

  1. Venstar thermostats must be saved on the home connector (for example apartment).
  2. No Kody user secret is required for the typed helpers — they call kody.mcp.home Venstar tools.
  3. Agents: see AGENTS.md for import paths, read-only smoke, and mutation cautions.

Done when

  • Home connector lists the expected thermostat(s)
  • Read-only getInfo / listThermostats returns climate data
  • Mutations (setComfort, setAway, …) are used only when the user explicitly asks to change HVAC state
